Bowling Green, Ky. (MTALLC) - The Bowling Green Freedom Walkers are back this year organizing their 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration for 2023. Last year was an amazing celebration at the George Washington Carver Center with vendors, food trucks, and tons of activities for kids. BG Freedom Walker's Karika Nelson set out on her mission to shed light on this wonderful Juneteenth occasion back in 2020, and has consistently gathered small businesses every year after to come out and celebrate with her. This year the Juneteenth Celebration will be held at The Duck Shack 615 Fairview Ave in Bowling Green Ky. We encourage all local businesses and families to come out and have fun this year as we will be sure to have an amazing time. The celebration will begin Friday, June 16th with the 1st Annual Miss Juneteenth Beauty Pageant starting at 6pm until 9pm. On June 17th, starting at 10am, the celebration continues with a Live DJ all day, bounce houses, games, activities, raffle drawings, and live performances. There will also be a Juneteenth ceremony, and a chance to shop at the Juneteenth BLK vendor market. Later that day, starting at 7pm there will be a Juneteenth Comedy Stand Up show followed by a kickback at 9pm.

To finish the weekend off, on Sunday June 18th, the day will start with Church On The Lawn starting at 11am. There will be several gospel singing groups along with prayer, scriptures, and a sermon. All churches are encouraged to participate so bring your congregation. This will be one day out of the year where everyone can praise God outside within our community to bring souls to Christ so we can continue to spread peace, love, diversity, and unity together. From 12pm - 6pm, enjoy the rest of the weekend with more fun, and more shopping with the Juneteenth BLK Market vendors. If you don't have plans, we encourage everyone to come out and support. Bring your tent & chairs and let's have some fun!!
