It's also worth noting that I've seen the site go up or down <p>It's also worth noting that I've seen the site go up or down after a lot of changes during a general update. For example, some sites that were down sharply in a typical December update started to go up as product reviews were updated. So it's like recovering from a general kernel update, but not during a subsequent general kernel update. This is not the usual way to recover from an extension's base update. This is further evidence of what the updated product reviews say about the site overall. For example, here are two sites that went up during the product review update and dropped precipitously during the general update in December. As I mentioned above, sites usually don't see a recovery (or meaningful feedback) until another core update rolls out. So it's very interesting to see it. Google explained that all types of reviews are affected, including single product reviews, product listings under review, services under review, and more. Additionally, sites with many UGC reviews may also be affected. Based on my analysis of product review updates, I see that all these types of sites and content are affected. I'll have more on this soon. After the Industry Email List announcement, I asked Danny Sullivan if the update would be rolling out as a big base update (every few months), or if the site could see improvements as they improve their review content and the site as an all-in-one. Updates need to be refreshed regularly, Danny explained, and we may not be notified when it happens. It is very important to understand this. If you are affected by an update, you should work to improve the site and content over time and wait for the update. You may not see much improvement until this refresh happens. There are currently regular refreshes. Unlike major updates, given the more limited nature of the content covered here, we may not always release refreshes when they occur. So in general, sites should follow the advice and keep working on it (the same goes for major updates!) Also, John Mueller explained in the Search Center hangout,

Here are some examples of delayed moves for two review-focused sites Here are some examples of delayed moves for two review-focused sites (both starting 4/19). Keep in mind that updates started rolling out on 08/04: below, I'll describe what I discovered during my analysis, along with some final takeaways covering key takeaways and advice for affected site owners. I'll start by getting the gist of the entire update, then cover my findings by digging into the multiple sites (in different categories) affected by the update. Additionally, I've published a companion web story for site owners and affiliate marketers that covers these key points about updated product reviews. First, as I explained earlier, the update officially launched on 8/4/21 , Google explained that its full rollout could take up to two weeks. The update looks a lot like a broad-based update to some of the affected sites, but it only focuses on censored content. Note that the two-week rollout is exactly what Google was talking about when it rolled out the Industry Email List big core update. Just an interesting note. This is when the deployment ends (basically two weeks). It starts today. It should be noted that I asked Danny Sullivan if the update is still rolling out on 4/20. He replied that he was indeed still under deployment. This makes perfect sense based on what I've seen on affected sites (you can see my earlier screenshots during the two-week rollout) The warning is any update, You may still have persistent edge cases. But do it efficiently. It's important to understand this, and again, it's similar to how basic updates work. Google explained that the product review algorithm looks at sites and sections more broadly. For example, analyzing the site as a whole and/or specific parts or parts of the site. For major updates, Google rates the site as a whole, while in this update it can be a mix of the entire site or parts of the site (including opinions). So it won't always compare page to page. I'm asking this question because I've seen website owners sometimes
